Christmas Day 06 Poem by Francis Duggan

Christmas Day 06

Rating: 5.0

The grass brown to white like the colour of hay
And the weather forecast reads a cool Christmas Day
And the rain overnight was not drought breaking rain
For tomorrow tis back to dry and warm again,
For the drought stricken farmers it has been a bad year
The long spell of dry weather has cost them dear
Their paddocks are bare and their livestock are thin
Financially this year they have failed to win
With another dry year doubtless they could not cope
And for the year 2007 one can only live in hope
Rain is Nature's gift to mankind without it nothing does thrive
And without water we hardly could hope to survive
Yet we have lived to see one more Christmas Day
And drought breaking rains hopefully not far away.
