Choices Poem by Simon Odhiambo

Choices

I know it is time
To wake up
But wait…
The alarm clock must ring
Choices I begin to make;
Another five minutes and will be up
To open my eyes or not
To get out of bed or not

It is Friday
Easy choice of attire:
Casual wear it is
But wait…
Which colour do I wear?
For top… for bottom
The shoes?
Easy choice… Sports shoes

Tea or coffee?
May be Fruits today
The phone rings…
To pick or not
To pick, I choose
But wait…
It is the boss calling
To lie or not
Stuck in the traffic
Or in five minutes time

Everyday choices face us
Like a Menu for lunch
The list is too long
May be water for today
Tomorrow I will try
The cheffs choice
But wait…
French fries will do
The Doctor a good deal

The same in poetry
One more line then am done
But wait…
I choose to end here
May be not
May be another line
One more line and am done
Another day
I will make the choice to finish this poem
