Children Poem by Alex Harris

Children

Said the darkened girl to the self righteous boy,
'Child, where have you been? '

'Child? But children? I've two years on you! And of what does two consist? We can say years are one point two but truth is true that two times out of two, I'm not over you.

Child? Yet children? I've more heartbreak from my letters than you from your shadow days. Though darkness falls in certain spots, is darkness not still an absence of light? Though shade is chilled, is it not just lower light?

Child? Still children? Though I've all but read all the works of God's green Earth, is it not apparent that truth be told in more than one? It is silence that has shown man how to think, and silence provokes thoughts between you and me.'

'Lay down and talk to me.'
