Child of mine

Child of Mine

This child of mine, my ever-loving love,
Is a work of art, sent straight from God.

Child of mine, I didn’t want to let you go;
But there was nothing I could do,
God said I had to be alone.

Child of mine, relaxing in the sunshine;
I hope you’re leading a happy new life.

Child of mine, way up in the sky,
You light up Heaven like a beacon of light my child.

Child of mine, way up in the sky,
I never wanted you to hurt,
I never wanted to see you cry.

Child of mine, I tried to keep you here,
But there was nothing I could do to keep you near.

Child of mine, Daddy will return to you,
Because I love you, you’re so beautiful.

Child of mine, way up in the sky;
I tried my best to keep you,
But God said you had to die.

Child of mine, oh child of mine,
One day I shall hold you once again
And then once more I shall find my life.

Poem of the Day

poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

When the hours of Day are numbered,
And the voices of the Night
Wake the better soul, that slumbered,
To a holy, calm delight;

Ere the evening lamps are lighted,
