Child Poem by Janine Alyssa Navarro

Child

A child is an author of his or her own kind
as soon as they’re born into this world.
Their minds are filled of written hopes and dreams,
their hearts are one with the world.

As days pass and they grow older
it is a decision for them to create:
to hold on to that lyrical spirit
or let it loose like a ripple in a vast lake.

Weary is the soul and mind
of he or she who travels far and wide.
To the ends of the earth, or the moon and back,
within you is all the peace you’d have to find.

Within everyone is a scared, timid child
roaming and wandering an Earth so unkind.
Keep that lyrical voice close, close to your heart
your joys and misery, are all written by just your hand.
