Chicago - 'the Clock Mender' Poem by Ima Ryma

Chicago - 'the Clock Mender'

The Marshall Field's Department Store,
In Chicago's Loop on State Street
Got a big Norman Rockwell score,
'The Clock Mender' did time entreat.
A repairman on ladder high
Using his pocket watch to set
The time Chicago time went by.
After published, Rockwell did let
The painting gifted to the store.
The store now gone, what did become
Of the painting? - it was bound for
Chicago's History Museum.

Chicago icons, understand,
Are always set in time by hand.
