Chess Poem by Daniel Miltz

Chess

A sixty four square board, divided fight
Chessman rise, move among spaces, out·right
Dramatic beauty, high contrast, black, white

Head down, we sit over a table small
Making moves with our brains, to forward crawl
Keep'g mysteries, to a concealed en·thrall

You might be a player but, i the game
White piece be off to start, me ac·claim
A superior approach, is it's aim

Moves shape, changing strategy, exactly
Shapes, thoughts, expressing beauty, abstractly
Win piece, lose piece, sacrific'g, craft·i·ly

A real battle of good and evil
In trick alley, maneuver, upheaval
Two armies, stare at each other, gleeful

Scheming to corner and overthrow King
Conquerer King of the board, most weak thing
Caught ala' checkmate; war end resulting

To the simple po·et·ics, I just penned
Peerless with poesy 'n wisdom blend
The chess game war that was brought to an end

Tis' is a result of being outdone
O' by strategic attacks that begun
Five moves ahead of all the residum
