Cherish This Heart Poem by nicola forbes

Cherish This Heart

Cherish this heart of mine as I place her hesitantly into your care,
for she does not come easy.
Be gentle with her or you may rip her tender skin
and she shall weep a mirriade of soft tears into the palm of your hand.
Have patience with her silence as she learns to sing again
experience has taught her to be wary.
Do not squeeze too tightly, her brusies may not heal.
Never harm her as wounds fade the memories leave everlasting scars.
Caress her gently with sweet kisses,
cradle her in your arms, helping her to forget what passed before.
Sheild and protect her, harbour her froms pains clutch,
for she loves you so she is willing to take this chance.
Yes - cherish this heart of mine -which you have awakened,
for she does not come easy.
