A mother rocked her new born child
so the child would not cry.
She hugged it gently against her bosom
and sang a well known lullaby.
Sitting in an antiquated rocking chair,
she held the child close to sing
the soothing words of a lullaby
to lull to sleep the newly born being.
Now from generation to generation,
that lullaby so popular and mild,
is sung by many mothers everywhere
and heard by a recently born child.
