Chap's Centimeter Poem by Chester Maynes

Chap's Centimeter

Chap’s centimeter—
Longer, higher
Unreachable by
A mile from where
We are
The sins that
Mothers hush up
Keep the children
At the school—
Worried, disturbed

Chap’s centimeter—
Deeper, stronger
Misunderstood by
Intelligent minds
In the stock market
And church and government—
The treasures that
Mothers earn
Are kept safely
In the bank

Chap’s centimeter—
Darker, bluer
Unseen by
Travelers of tomorrow
Raised a money
Borrowed from none
Their strength is strength
Of one man—
He that kills courage
Is not a brave man
