Chances Poem by Tammi Celina Lyons

Chances

Take a step forward
Take a deep breath
Let your mind take the lead
Don't let it hurt you to breathe.

Take a step back
Take a chance to explain
Let your mind do the talking
Don't be foolish and regret your choices.

Your blood veins pumps
Your heart beat jumps
Make it understand how you feel
Make it real to make it happen
Let's talk about anything

Dreams are realities that we can't explain
Fantasies are dreams that you wish could happen
Realities are life and death
We don't choose to die
We choose to live life.

Take a step forward
Take a deep breath
Let your mind take the lead
Don't let it hurt you to breathe.

Take a step back
Take a chance to explain
Let your mind do the talking
Don't be foolish and regret your choices.

Sometimes mistakes are good
It's a lesson in life
We take chances
We take risks
But it's nothing to feel bad about.

Think of it as learning
We learned to breathe
We learned to live
We even learn about ourselves.

Lives are stories
Every person has something to say
Each day we do something.

Making ourselves explain
Making chances
Making promises that we don't keep
Having secrets
And telling everybody.

Do I think it's right?
No.
But we're young
And living life to the fullest
And this is where it all starts.

Take a step forward
Take a deep breath
Let your heart take the lead
Don't let it hurt you to take chances.
