Chain Of Life Poem by David Harris

Chain Of Life

Rating: 5.0

Every chain is made of links
just as our life befalls.
Each time we met someone
whether it is near or far
we add another link to our chain of life.
As our years, multiply
so will the links on our chain.
When we lose a link,
we find another to replace it
and our chain of life goes on.

Your metaphor of life as a chain of links is superb, David. And I like the way you regard each new meeting as a new link. Sometimes it is hard to let go of the old links, I know. Like old shoes, or comfortable furniture, they tend to become a force of habit. It's very reassuring to remember that there are always new links being added. And let's face it, detachment is one of the most difficult things to accept in our finite little lives. love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
