Celebrate Poem by Shruti Goswami

Celebrate

Let us celebrate
A packet full of lies
Handed down with
A Fake smile
And confidence
Of a trickster
Taking advantage
Of your feelings
And trust.

Let us allow
Our intelligence
To be insulted
Our faith to be squashed
Our trust to be broken
Our self respect
To be demeaned
By sugar coated words
That sound like love.

Let us live
Under the illusion
That those who love
Would never deceive
Never lie
And never break our hearts
And thrive on it
Day in and day out
Occasionally cry.

Better still
Let us die
When the illusions
Lie shattered
No way to deny
And we tread
On those broken pieces
Mistaking them
For a piece of our heart.

Let us celebrate
An untimely
Much needed death
To prove
All along
We had lived
Not as vegetables
But as humans
Used mercilessly
Played with cruelly
And disposed off.

Let us celebrate
Let us die.
