Ceist Agam Orm. Poem by Matt Mooney

Ceist Agam Orm.

Rating: 5.0

Ceist agam orm féin:
Ó chrann atá lom
Cad é an síor gearán
Sa choill atá láimh liom?
An éan atá ann?

Ní fheicim aon éan-
Níl éan ar an gcrann.

Cuirim cluas orm fein
Ag féachaint in airde
Is aithním an fhuaim uaim
Ar deireadh mar ghioscán:
Fuinseoig ag caoineadh,
Ina luascán ag gaotha,
Ag fulaingt mar dhuine.

An dán, a mhatt, cliste agus macnamhach! Bheadh Ó Ríordán bródúil as. Chuireas fuinseog sa ghairdín an lá cheana agus ní ar mhaithe le camáin a chuireas é!

Hello Matt my friend...After reading your (I ask Myself - which was brilliantly composed filled with meaning and thought.....) ...I thought I'd leave my comments here.....My mother was born on the coast of County Waterford, fluent in this tongue...she would often give me a good telling off....Myself not being able to understand it.....not much ever got through....lol.........But one thing I've grown to love....is this beautiful and rare expressed verse...Amazing piece, thanks for sharing this part of spoken history with us my friend 10
