Caught In The Rain. Poem by Nicco Muegge

Caught In The Rain.

Rating: 5.0

When I was a young man
my mother would take me outside during rainy days
and we would play for hours
until the rain stopped.

Those years were precious
I long for them often as they remind me of a better age
when I used to laugh
w/ the woman I loved.

Thinking back on those times
I wish I could have more moments and days like that
where I could stop the madness
and get caught in the rain.

So much has changed
and today has been one of those rainy days
but where is my joy
where is my freedom?

I look outside the window
and then at my wife in the seat next to me
until she notices
and we lock eyes.

Time have been rough
but her eyes remain understanding and strong for me
she knows my pain
I know her heart.

I take her hand
and lead her out of the car into the street
where an avalanche
of tiny raindrops meet us.

There are no words
but the moment is significant enough that we don't need to speak
as I hold the woman I love
and get caught in the rain.
