Catch Me Before I Slip Away Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

Catch Me Before I Slip Away

If time can make you mine,
you'll be my only
In time i might be fine,
deciding to be lonely
It don't mean i don't care
You just need to be aware
i may not always be there
I've faded in and out with the emotions
I don't think you've really ever noticed
The line of possibility is still open
At least the hope is there
Yea, it isn't going nowhere
Washed ashore the sea
nearly drowned me
struggling for air
and then you've found me
Unconscious but your conscious
Wouldn't allow that,
so you had brought me back
Things fell off course
and is now on track
I love you and the
heart knows this as a fact
But the mind just
won't conform to that
Days and nights
it's hard to understand these feelings
Nights and days
the cards that you've been dealing
Think you've reshuffled the deck
I make a move, you make one next
loyalty really does take alot of dedication
Security provides me
with the motivation
Compromising what i
hold dear the most
Love's a drug that
had me overdose
And you've provided me
with air to breathe
When i was suffocating
and was in need
You could have lost me
Too harsh of a reality
Caring enough to not
lose this love
Was the risk you
were willing to take
Against feeling the pain
of your heartache
Holding this together
to not see it break
