Catacombs Poem by Darren Harris

Catacombs

Rating: 4.0

In the deepest darkest regions,
In the catacombs of my mind,
I search for you my inner ghost,
But as I search your hard to find,

As I stumble in the darkness,
I feel your presence all around,
I smell the stench of your breath,
As my heartbeat echoes, an eerie sound,

Then on my neck, an icy feeling,
As your breath encircles me,
Then I feel your grip as it tightens,
As from this place I try to flee,

But I cannot move, I’m frozen with fear,
And I feel my heartbeat start to race,
As your grip gets even tighter,
I need to escape from this place,

But you keep me here, in this darkness,
My mind contorting with the pain,
My body bound by a chain of thorns,
Will I ever be set free again?
