Once upon a tree was carved a message
In innocent marks it stated ‘I'll love you always'
This told the world how the lover felt
Over time the bark took over and
‘I'll love you always' became
‘I'll love you' and in time again
The bark spelled ‘I'll love'
Too soon the love was lost
And all that was left was ‘I'll'
A grandchild saw the mystic mark
With sharpened knife he began to carve
In no time at all natures erasure
Became ‘I'll love you always'
How wonderful that a lover's message
Was brought back by the act of his love
