Caribbean Moments Poem by Nancy Crossman

Caribbean Moments

Rating: 5.0

A sultry Caribbean breeze,
Tickles our eyelids neath the parasol
Offered by gently swaying palms.
Soft hisses where the turquoise ocean
Tiptoes onto the sun-bleached sand,
Blissful sighs escape our lips as we inhale
Fresh ocean air, tasting the salty brine;
There are other sounds around us,
All of them elements of the ambience,
Couples speak in hushed tones,
Softly cooing to each other.
The language of love universal;
Sunshine penetrates our very souls.
Pale bodies affirmation
Of why we have come here;
Caribbean life slowly massages
Our minds, easing the tension
We carry like beasts of burden
In another place, another time;
Daydreams interlace with imagination,
As each moment slowly drifts by.
A sense of harmony and tranquility
Overwhelms the senses.
We surrender to the Caribbean warmth,
Mindful that our holiday will end,
But for now, we savour
Every single Caribbean moment!
