Card Game Poem by Zoe Howarth

Card Game

Rating: 4.5

Life is like a game of cards,
You play them right or wrong.
You either feel like you're in the right place,
Or feel like you don't belong.
Do you believe me now I’m lying here,
Drowning in my tears?
Crying's always hard to hide,
When dreams become your fears.

I know I’ve done wrong, I know I've done bad.
I know I've said things I never should have said.
Like how I told you you played with my head.
Just one of the things I sincerely regret.
Like how I mentioned you talk too much.
One of your habits I didn't need to touch.

Seeming so lost without you here,
It's almost too hard to bear.
Your words go racing through my head,
When i cry to my teddy bear.
Life is like a game of cards,
You play them right or wrong.
You either feel like you're in the right place,
Or feel like you don't belong.

Another lovely expression of feeling, Zoe. You tell it the way it is for all of us. Your rhymes are delightful, never forced, absolutely natural. You have talent. Keep writing. Love, Jan
