Captured In A Fibre Optic World Poem by Midnight Clarity

Captured In A Fibre Optic World

Rating: 5.0

Can you see me in the dark?
Do I glow come hither light,
world wide web will o the wisp,
mere sparkle of the neurons
that run in little packets
up and down
the fibres that connect us
through the night, the day,
that let us speak in tongues
that cut and slash, crash and burn,
without a scar to show for it
fade to black, then click our heels
three times to resurrect;
such strange games we play
before our screens
that open on the night
in other worlds an hour
or hemisphere away;
working by touch,
all hand to hand,
blind struggle towards light,
companionship
that gets shot down
so quickly, as the packets
turn to flame and kill
the vision that was growing
in the night. A breath,
a pause, could keep it dark
enough for us to see
through all the shadows
of the night, let's make the
chocolate milk, not bitter,
sweet mouths to speak
in gentle words that kiss
our screens to make us smile
and reach out to connect.

I like this one a lot. A gentle touch can make a difference from thousands of miles away. Thanks

There was a line here that made me think of Damien Rice. Your thoughts transfer to paper effortlessly. I love how you made me think of how we all connect via the ether, it's a marvellous thing really. HG: -) xx
