Captain Bell's Memorial Poem by Justin Gildow

Captain Bell's Memorial

The people of Bellcola treasure and respect
the exploits and efforts of Captain Bell
Loving what he did for them
The people built a memorial to him in his honor

Making my way to Captain Bell's Memorial
I can feel some sort of mystery
Of much more knowledge that is hidden than
being presented

Inside Captain Bell's Memorial
I meet and greet the keeper of this place
She tells me a little bit about Captain Bell
She points out his gravestone to me
As well as the flames that burn eternally
The flames guard an underground passage
leading down into the darkness

Walking around the Memorial
I pay a visit to Captain Bell's gravestone
And I walk over to the eternal flames
I can feel sense how hot they are
In the middle of the Memorial
I notice a giant pipe organ

Walking up to the pipe organ
I press a couple of the keys

Remembering what Peter the parrot told me
The words he told me
I wonder if Peter's words hold a clue to this pipe organ
I wonder if his words are true

Remembering the words Peter told me
I press down the keys of the organ in a musical
sequence

After pressing the last key
The eternal flames start to go out
I'm stunned by my way of thought
As it was correct

The keeper is surprised of what I just did
And what just happened
But she wishes me well as I descend into the
underground passage
Leading me on my way once again
