Canyon Poem by moon dust

Canyon

Rating: 2.8

A step beyond my door and I came into another world
Barren and dry
Viewed to those who had given it as a cruel joke
Useless, cracked
All life blown away in the dry fiery winds
But the joke was not on them
They saw the beauty
A thousand shades of orange
The setting of the sun brought skies that were limitless
Stretching way past the boundries that held them
Sweeping hills and stark rock
Making magnificant shadows across the thirsty earth
Beautiful colors of sands
Warm beneath their feet
God made this land
And unbelievably it was given to them
Like a cast off, garbage
And they accepted it
Like a precious stone.
