Candles On The Water Poem by Autumn Winds

Candles On The Water

Burning, candles on the water
We can never make a key;
The one once there is lost
We were forever
Always watching our diminished constellations
And all those nights we stared at the sky
What happens since we're lost?
What happens if we don't want to be?
All those promises we made and broke
All those things we didn't say and
All those things we shouldn't have said
We were young
Burning, candles on the water
Wide-eyed and gazing at the world
Making mistakes we'd hopefully learn from
Little love, uncaring and free
But bite your tongue and listen
Unheasitating
As the strangers and the silence became familiar
The darkness we once feared
Now becomes what we look forward too
Marching toward an unknown
We are the ones still walking
Still walking and waiting
Burning, candles on the water
And here, now
There's not much I want to take
Our stars fell from our sky
And hit the ground
Would it be all right
If our diamonds fell away?
And if we didn't?
Would that be ok?
And in the quiet of the night
If we simply existed and lived and were free,
Would we be just you and me?
So little love just listen and just be
Burning, candles on the water
