Autumn Winds

(July 22 1993 / Sanfrancisco, California)

Can You Hold An Ocean?

Look into my eyes
But hold her hand
With a laugh and giggle
Moving closer
We're face to face
But to who?
I have you
But can I keep an ocean like you?
Wild and untamed
Fluid and ever-moving
Will you claim another
Or will I stay barely breathing
At your surface?
Sliding gently across the sand
While others hold on and fail
But if she survives
Will I?

It's a pleasure to read this gem of a piece!
    I have you
But can I keep an ocean like you?
    Wild and untamed
    Fluid and ever-moving
Fantastic thought of a bewildered lover, you take the reader with your musings...
    But if she survives
Will I? ...My God! What a difficult question uttered so easily!
    Well done,10/10 (Report) Reply

Poem of the Day

poet Sara Teasdale

Only in sleep I see their faces,
Children I played with when I was a child,
Louise comes back with her brown hair braided,
Annie with ringlets warm and wild.
