Can You Believe? Poem by Singleton M. Tate

Can You Believe?

Rating: 0.5

They told me that my time was up. Did you hear that? I'm out of here! There's no compromise for me, that doctor said. My expiration date has come and I must be discarded. Am I spoiled food or garbage to be treated so inhumanly? I want to rid myself of this pain. Have I nothing to gain?

I've been to 10 hospitals and I've seen over 7 specialist, who did nothing, but cost me huge bills. I'm still ill! While I waste away within the silence and whispering behind my back. I'm a good person. I've given money to countless charities. Who will appease?

I go down to this valley of indecision alone. Within me... I see, no hope. I'm young, barely 40 years old. Yes, I'm bold to say the least... for I seek peace for my weary soul. So, I've been told things will get worse. I'll lose my sight, my motor-skills, even my speech. I'll be emptied of my essence. I won't be able to teach.

Should I have faith or should I try... to search the universe for the God who doesn't lie? Should I reconcile my life? Should I pray once or twice? Is my fate truly in these doctors hands? Is there anyone who understands? Millions of questions form in my mind. Why me God? I'm begrimed.

Where are those answers... who holds the key? I cry for truth to set me free! Faith can move mountains or so I've heard. Without faith, it's impossible to please God, that's in His word. You need faith like a grain of a mustard
seed, it packs a big punch. I don't know what to say, so that I can be touched.
I've come to the end of myself, here's the deal. I can't make anymore mistakes, that's for real. The clock is ticking too fast, you see. For whom are those bells tolling, surely not for me! I'm ready to grab a hold of hope and faith, right now. Lord, I can't fix it... but I know, you know how.

I don't have the faith, that is required to heal me from these complications. Lord, I seek your face, rescue me and bring restoration. I've been a despicable soul, I attest. I've sinned beyond measure, I confess. Is your mercy everlasting, can I have your grace? Lord, will you please deliver me from this God-forsaken place? I'm building my faith right now! I'm at the pinnacle. I'll receive my miracle! I know that... there's nothing too hard for God! Just have FAITH... for that's our part!
