Can I..... Poem by Mallika Achuthan Menon

Can I.....

Rating: 3.7

Amidst the hustle and bustle of day
Can I be in your thoughts, my dear?
Why did my mind who is acting childlike,
Taxing me by asking this
From dawn to dusk and vice versa?
The entire linear thoughts of mine
Amalgamated in you only.
You are so kind please do a favour
Just keep aside a little space
Only for me in your mind.
In return, with no hesitance in will
I shall abstain my life itself
To you my dear, wholeheartedly!

Can we fly up in the sky so high at night?
A lot of fireflies will form a retinue for us
during our flight
In the wings of white nimbus clouds
which are drifting near by moon.
So that both of us can get a chance
to clean the stain of lovely moon.
Tell me, who is beautiful
me or moon?
The smile on your face has delivered me
The exact answer what I wanted.

My innerself has intensively filled with
loads of soft sensations up to the brim.
They always liberate endless waves
of love for you so intently!
Will you be there with me dear to fondle those delicate feelings of mine
with your usual enchanting touch?

Can I stand so close to lean on you?
Then a pair of rhythmic heartbeats
will turn into a single note!
In that propinquity I seek solace
When my morale becomes weak and fragile.

Can you hold me in your arms?
To whisper softly 'you are mine'!
That saying resounds in my soul
Like a cadence of a flute!

I feel that two sets of our own eyes
Resemble with us in some manner.
In between these precious eyes
There exists a well tuned accord.
They used to share all mirth and woes
With equal consent jointly.
They always travel hand in hand
Though they could never have seen each other.

Likewise in life we too attuned in every aspect
Nothing is leftout without sharing between us.
Now you are far off from myself
And I don't think we could meet
in this life once again!
Though I can feel your mere presence
In each and every step I take.

Tell me, my dear,
When all the glory of the youth
may bade farewell to my body,
Shiny hair may turn black to grey
And the vigor in me may
Get diminished day by day
to a great extent.
Can you visualize the similar beauty
Even then, in me same as now my dear?
Will you keep the romance alive
Till the last day when I die?

Our life is flowing slickly forward
Like a rivulet through ups and downs.
The source of smoothness in this flow
Is nothing but love that which we share!
If the spring of love somehow gets
dried up someday
Then my existence in this world
Will get an instantenious ending
Without any further intermission!

Can I stand so close to lean on you? Then a pair of rhythmic heartbeats will turn into a single note! .........................i especially enjoyed these lines. also these lines: When all the glory of the youth may bade farewell to my body, ...........but i would use bid instead of bade Shiny hair may turn black to grey And the vigor in me may Get diminished day by day to a great extent. ....................you seem optimistic......that these things only may happen! if you live long enough, i think they assuredly will! but you've still got a few years ahead of you before then (if your PH photo was recently taken) ! ! mallika, i will need a lot more time to comment fully on your poem. suffice it to say, you know a lot of english words (some i don't know, or know well) , and the grammar is pretty good. but i bet this would seem more polished if written in whatever-your-first language-is, and i wish i could read it in that language also. alas, i mostly know only english and not as well as some know it! thanks for sharing. i will try to find time in the future to comment more fully in a personal message. remind me if i don't do so in the next week. bri :)

Thank you for inviting me to read this beautiful poem of yours. Your poem is replete with love, and the sense of this heavenly feeling made my day. 'Now you are far off from myself And I don't think we could meet in this life once again! Though I can feel your mere presence In each and every step I take.' - Poignant feelings. Separation is sad, but when one nourishes such tender feelings even when separated, with no possibility to reunite, I would infer, blessed is he, and blessed you are, to have been 'in love'. 'Can you visualize the similar beauty Even then, in me same as now my dear? Will you keep the romance alive Till the last day when I die? ' - Regarding this apprehension of yours, I have a poem titled 'Her Fears' - you may like to read and comment.

One of the best love poems I have read! Great flow of thoughts and feelings with rhythmic verses. The fire of love never dies. I like all the beautiful verses and these lines are touched me most: Tell me, who is beautiful me or moon? The smile on your face has delivered me The exact answer what I wanted. You must keep on writing! Give to the world what you have - the gift of writing.

A poem seems to be taken up the theme of romanticism in well written words of creativity and perfection and I like this poem as such. well done by the poet.
