Cages Poem by Amouta Stardancer

Cages

Oh how the caged,
bird sings,
of unfulfilled dreams,
and memories long gone.
Another life,
where she was free,
to soar between,
the earth and heaven,
what sweet ballads,
do her mind compose,
from dreams of what,
once was.

The caged lion,
roars at emptiness,
and with haunted eyes,
he chases mice,
just beyond his reach.
When once his pride,
could run and feast,
on open plain,
rule man and beast,
he now contents,
with sad laments,
to gripe away his time.

A caged wolf paces,
drawing breath,
refusing food,
and begging death.
Oh what a thing,
to hold in freedom,
a plague upon the free,
and what a being,
to so assemble steel,
that it may hold,
the wilds in,
and limit even,
the roaming wind,
from being what it is.
