Caged Bird Poem by Kelly Persinger

Caged Bird

I feel like a caged bird
I can't get out
And there is no hope.
I was so close to freedom
But they put locks on my cage
And covered it with a blanket
Now I can't even see.
I was so happy
Chirping all day long
And they just closed me out
And clamped my beak shut.
I was flying around
And they clipped my wings
I can't get out
And there is no hope
For a caged bird like me.
