By Your Example

You showed us what it means to love
Like the Father up above
You've shown us how to stand
Against the enemy's hand
You've shown us why we should stay
Even if it's a stormy day
Lord, you lead and called us to follow
Showed as a way to keep words from being hollow
So now I'll do as you have done
I'll show your way until my time is done
If an example is what you called me to be
Then you can trust that it's you they'll see
I'll hold fast in faith when it is rough
I'll wait for my love even when it's tough
I'll keep with my friends and never let them go
Your heart is what I plan to show
If your the meal then I'm the sample
Lord, I chose to live by your example

Poem of the Day

poet Charles Stuart Calverley

He stood, a worn-out City clerk —
Who'd toil'd, and seen no holiday,
For forty years from dawn to dark —
Alone beside Caermarthen Bay.
