By Namibian Shore Poem by Charlotte Peters Rock

By Namibian Shore

Through ocean foam
where high dunes wander
camels fearful striding slide

In terror lost
and dragged complaining
forced to landworld edge

Up sandslide hills
slipping sandski downward
Loose lip misery

Through mussel beds
and tombs of human
skulls and girdle bones

surface stormsucked
toys of nature's game
Mined like diamond stone

Down sink camels
grazing hay for cud
Batting dreadful vacant eyes

Sharpening teeth
to test the human
Girdle skull or frightful hand
