But You Walked Out Poem by Kailee Falvo

But You Walked Out

We’ve never talked before
I only know you from the home videos where
I was a baby, not knowing what was going on.
You were my Godfather
You are supposed to be a part of my life.
But you walked out.
And now I’m old enough to be mad and sad.
Remember making me laugh, holding me,
Feeding me, making me happy? !
Maybe my life would have turned out differently so far,
If you were here in my life,
But you walked out.
I don’t even know if you love me.
I didn’t know that all those smiles would soon cause tears
Because you were my God father
But you walked out.
I don’t know where you are, I don’t even know if you remember me!
You could have seen me grow up to be become a wonderful young lady.
You could have seen me get confirmed, you could have seen what I looked like at homecoming
And turnabout!
But you walked you.
Leaving me with a million questions, that I toss aside.
With a million tears, that I wash up.
Who knows what joy you could have brought to my life
Because in those home movies, you always made me giggle and smile.
