But Peace Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

But Peace

I saw her in sky
Waved hand as if was trying to fly
With face towards earth
As if defying the death

I could symbolize her dress
With that of truce
As if trying to make an alliance
With man on earth at once

I tried to recollect her face
Made thrust to trace
Each time I tried
The face always lied

You were rushing with concern
I was reassuring in turn
I told you about incidence
And wanted her audience

She may reappear
Without any fear
I shall try to address her apprehension
For me distance was same in relation

She was waving from above the sky with plea
And you were trying across high seas
I was getting no one in fact
But peace I could gather to act
