Burning Your Letters By The Shallow Shores Poem by Saadut Hussain

Burning Your Letters By The Shallow Shores

Rating: 5.0

Burning your letters by the shallow shores

Where we once sat watching reflections of night

Of faraway glimmers on a slow winding river

Where the quietude would play on words so bright

Where our eyes were lost in each others quest

Where resonated in reticence echoes of our silences

When our hands clasped to explore each others fate

Where the song filled breeze caressed our soul

There shake gales of wind, now lies an eerie howl

There the shore now lay barren, the river gone parched

The reflections we mused now erased by a cloak

The letters I then poured now become ash and smoke

Burning your letters by the shallow shores
