Burned Bridge Poem by Elizabeth Walker

Burned Bridge

forget me, walk away
you knew I'd never stay
near your drama and complex style
it's hardly worth my while
I can't breathe when you're around
you're so loud without making a sound
there's tension in every word you breathe
please leave me alone so I can grieve
the loss of a friend I used to know
the bridge is burned I watched him go
broke my heart not just in two
pierced a hole went straight thru
every moment, memory and laugh
we can't just split them half and half
come back to me and appologize
but if you don't I won't cry
my anger will fester and it will brew
I'll try not to show my increasing wrath towards you
or your family or decisions or every ill word you spake
because it's all one more choice that you'll regret you had to make.
