Broken Down Poem by robert butterfield

Broken Down

Take my soul as it is
Bury it in this darkened hole
In mud I crawl
Broken down, I fall
Where I stand
Is where I’ll sleep
Where I lay
Is where I’ll stay
In words, I break these creeds
In soil, I bury these seeds
And what grows
Is the rose that bleeds
Broken down
Is what is left of this heart
What rots
Are the pieces that were torn apart
What burns my skin Is the long lost truth
And what feeds my sin Is my long lost youth
