Brighten The Future Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

I look back to the natural scene
So calm, peaceful and hardly seen
Refuge for all birds and for human beings too
Why are we denying the fact that it is true?

Despite all cruelty on nature
We are making future unsure
We think of nothing about future generation
Forget about the human and nature’s relation

We have tradition of praying rain god
In the wake of drought and scarcity for food
We gather and chant the hymns in his praise
Such bond existed and still exists when we are chased

Look back at frequent natural calamities
Heavy toll of man and material in all the cities
In Europe and elsewhere its presence is felt
We do nothing sincerely to prevent

Rivers are in spate
Landslides and earthquakes are routine to state
Bushfire is apparent and destruction of forests is everywhere
Can we call it necessary for mankind and fare?

Let the whole of mankind not loose on this count!
As colossal losses are reported and talked about
It is still not late to come to the terms
Else whole of universe may be questioned in turn

There were no shivering cold nights
Neither was thick snow nor the droughts
Let us wake up to the call of nature
Strengthen the bond and brighten the future
