Brief Encounter Poem by Yvonne Allsop

Brief Encounter

Brief Encounter.

I ache inside, the pain is raw;
Our love will never be.
I cannot stand this lonely life.
I wanted you and me.

I cannot eat, I cannot sleep.
I cannot live this way.
I cannot bear the thought that you,
Have gladly turned away.

I could have given happiness;
A life with such great joy.
You were my darling for a while,
My darling, darling joy.

Our Brief Encounter was so sweet;
But now it’s plain to see.
You didn’t plan to stay around;
And that’s too brief for me.
