Bridging Hearts Poem by Jessel Jane Tevar Toring

Bridging Hearts

To cross or not to cross that bridge
I sat, as my hair and my thoughts go against the rage of the wind.
I told the skies I'd lend him a portion of my stars for he has none.
He ignored me coldly.
I realized he left his sun, for reasons
my heart may take years to understand.
The sea whispers promises almost without a sound.
Stones were cast into the water, the waves have them drowned.
The moon never appeared but I saw too many hearts unknown.
Lone hearts, wounded hearts... consoling to the song of little children;
friendly hearts, kind hearts, whole hearts that soon would be broken.
And there were hearts under that bridge that long to bridge over...
his steps may take a hundred moons to cross what is between them,
hers may take a hundred sunsets more.
For hearts take hearts to understand,
and love takes time to overcome
the distance between both ends.
It takes no stars for fate is not written there,
to answer the question of the song that goes:
to cross or not to cross.
