Breathe Poem by Ramona Thompson

Breathe

Written for David Cook

Standing so close
So close to the fire
In danger of falling
Losing ourselves
Inside of desire we never dared dream of before
Both adults
Both free without rings
To do as we please
Yet still we can't help but question
Do we dare

Breathe
Breath tonight
Lean into one another
Love each other
Like we've never loved before
Two so far apart
Still so afraid of the outcome
What might a kiss lead to
Ooh, if tonight we let this feeling flow
Let it all go
What will happen
If we let it
Breathe tonight

Magic when we touch
Agony whenever we're apart
Can't help but feel that this could be something so right
Even when all our friends warn us
To take a friendship like ours deeper
Could go so wrong
We still long
For just a little bit more
In each other's arms
Tonight I don't think I can just say goodbye again
If we don't just once

Breath tonight
Lean into one another
Love each other
Like we've never loved before
Two so far apart
Still so afraid of the outcome
What might a kiss lead to
Ooh, if tonight we let this feeling flow
Let it all go
What will happen
If we let it
Breathe tonight

The best of me is you
The worst of you is me
Like missing puzzle pieces
At last we are found
At last we are whole and complete
When united we come together like this
Lost in this lover's bliss
As one
All flaws are healed
All past sins are forgiven and forgotten
As a promise is sealed with a kiss unspoken

Breath tonight
Lean into one another
Love each other
Like we've never loved before
Two so far apart
Still so afraid of the outcome
What might a kiss lead to
Ooh, if tonight we let this feeling flow
Let it all go
What will happen
If we let it
Breathe tonight

Is this real or is this just a fantasy
Are we meant to last forever or just for a little while
How will we ever know
If we don't give it a try
I want to
I really do
And I know so do you
Embracing tenderly, secretly tonight
Standing on the threshold of something exciting and new
And maybe just maybe the best thing ever to happen
Baby, tell me how can we not

Breath tonight
Lean into one another
Love each other
Like we've never loved before
Two so far apart
Still so afraid of the outcome
What might a kiss lead to
Ooh, if tonight we let this feeling flow
Let it all go
What will happen
If we let it
Breathe tonight

Breath tonight
Lean into one another
Love each other
Like we've never loved before
Two so far apart
Still so afraid of the outcome
What might a kiss lead to
Ooh, if tonight we let this feeling flow
Let it all go
What will happen
If we let it
Breathe tonight
