Boyhood Poem Poem by John Thorkild Ellison

Boyhood Poem

Down upon the shore lay curled
A little boy who hummed a tune
As the tide came in and the waves unfurled
Beneath the laughter of the moon.

He slept all night beside the sea
In the cradle of a sandy dune,
And dreamt of songs and poesie
Beneath the laughter of the moon.

He dreamt of songs and poesie,
A Lion and a Unicorn,
But the light came creeping far too soon
And the vision vanished with the dawn.
