Bourne On A Summer Breeze Poem by Dean Bottomley

Bourne On A Summer Breeze

Bourne on a summer breeze
The scent of new mown hay.
Cow parsley’s aniseed like smell;
Honeysuckle in the dusk.

Bourne on a summer breeze
The gentle touch of warmth.
The damp still hanging in the dawn;
The evening kiss of peace.

Bourne on a summer breeze
The Kite’s shrill warning call.
Blackbirds competing for the mate;
Pigeon's continual coo.

Bourne on a summer breeze
The haze across the field.
The rising dust of crops brought in;
With seagulls keeping guard.

Bourne on a summer breeze
Memories from the past.
My hand in his, as Dad and I,
Explored the natural world.

Bourne on a summer breeze
Memories old and new.
As years slip by and eyes grow dim;
The breeze brings back the past.

I invite you to read my poem Photographic Memories, written for my father..I so felt the warmth of your hand, held in your father's, in this beautiful, delicate tribute. Saving it as one of my favorites, as I love the sentiment it strutted. PEACE
