Born Into A Stolen World Poem by Andrew Rimmer

Born Into A Stolen World

The game lost before being born,
A done deal, ever widening into a chasm.
Living, always caught on a thorn,
Feelings of hopelessness, youthful enthusiasm,
Its innocent belief, slowly bleeding into the sands of time.

Vested interests entrenched, impregnably fortified,
Efforts of past generations, not so much to show,
Inertia for the greater benefit, sentiments ossified,
Crimes, denials, deprivations, a long litany of woe,
Human greed with indifference still championed by reward.

Altruism, empathising generosity and good intent,
Abound in the hearts of many a decent man,
Existence is surely to thrive, life's fleetingly sent,
Change life for the benefit of all, one really can,
Continuing generations ensuring the future of a stolen world.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
A reflection on the youth employment crisis and the perspective that the world is set against a large number of people by birth. Old fashioned but still relevant today.
