Boko Haram Poem by Lekan Malik

Boko Haram

Rating: 3.0

I am in the west
Standing on a platform to behold the north.
But alas! What did I see?
Turmoil and devastation.
And I asked myself,
How could it be?
Then it revealed itself.
It is Boko Haram.
But the terms connote no sense to me.

Is Boko Haram a name or exclamations?
Curious was I, to know what it means.
I decided to elevate my platform
In other to glare passionately at the north.
Then I realized
Boko is Western education and mentality and
Haram is a sin or forbidden.
My clear radar metamorphosed to an opaque one.
Then I exclaimed, what a Boko disapproval.

I was overwhelmed by confusion and thoughts
On how Haramic Boko is.
For I have gigantically embraced Boko
Without foreseeing any ominous consequences.
Who will now orientate these Boko foes?
On how Boko has illuminated the world’s ignorance.
For there is enough deaths and catastrophes.
Violence will only apprehend love and unity.
Boko foes, dialogue for peace to reign.
