Body shaming is an art.
It requires a consummate artist,
With discerning eye,
To look past your qualities,
Your diminutive size.
With their brushes,
They paint the mirror,
You look into it,
You see yourself a monster,
A gaint.
They will hide with white,
Your virtue, your beauty.
And highlight a blotch,
Turn it to cancer.
Draining your esteem
Painting for you,
Your self image.
Black, pitch black.
Confining you in a canvas
Of body shaming.
The stolen smile of a boy
Girl in the grips of anorexia;
Their prize?
Body shaming is an art.
Conjuring image
That stabs, and pricks, and kills
The real.
A nefarious art.
