Blue Skies Poem by Lekë Loshi

Blue Skies

When I look at blue, innocent skies
I can’t help but think of your dilated eyes
Or when I see a couple that lovingly embrace
All I think of is your luminescent face

Wherever I go, I see people charred with hate
They envy my strength and pride
My feelings for you will never dissipate
I will always stand by your side
And when in doubt, remember, we’re made of the same clay
Even when we encounter problems, in December
We’ll think of them the same way

Poetry has failed me, words cannot describe
All the joy and fulfilment I feel inside
I no longer need a drug to calm me down
Just a warm hug, and your smile to misplace my frown
Your beauty encompasses the depths of an ocean
Helps me realize, in search of a rhyme
That your love is the only potion
Along with the thought that I am yours, and you are mine.
