Blind Poem by Carlos Vazquez

Blind

Rating: 4.0

Are we born with a blindfold on?
In a fog? In a dark void?
Is the truth real?
Can it be obtained and taught to others?
Can every question have an answer?
Or are we wasting our time?

I've been fighting death
Since light first touched my face,
Since oxygen was first inhaled into my lungs.
I'm the only soldier in my war
And the treaty is a myth.

I can see everyone with a clouded vision,
Clouded by lies, false hopes and dreams, greed, and infatuation.
Why can't anyone see humanity's
Awaiting disaster?

Why can't anyone see the planted dynamite and the child playing with matches next to it?
Why hasn't anyone notice the glass that is sustaining the tower?
Why doesn't anyone see the spilled
Gasoline under the field of festive fireworks?
