Blessings Poem by Kathleen Reguindin

Blessings

Rating: 5.0

When my day goes in motion
When I don’t pay attention
Life’s many blessings
Will be drowned by daily stressings!

Whenever I can
I force myself to stop thinking
Calm the mind, focus on nothing
Just my breathing.

Stillness deep within me, everything hushes
Feelings of deep gratitude rushes
I open my eyes, I look around
Sharply aware of blessings that abound.

How can I even begin to list?
You have blessed me with so many gifts!
I’ve written this poem of appreciation
Please accept this humble composition.

Every morning when I open my eyes.
I thank You, Lord, for another day of life.
For the beat of my heart, for the air I breathe.
The cool breeze that strokes my face.
The warmth of wool on freezing days.

For nature in all its splendor displayed,
Blue skies, unmarred by clouds
A perfect day, to us nature has bestowed!
When dark clouds appear, signalling heavy precipitation
The silver lining that peeks through them elicits appreciation.

Bursting vibrant colours of flowers
The murmuring brooks and rivers
Butterflies and bees flitting and pollinating
Shrubs and trees that paint our world green.

The turquoise blue of oceans and seas
Coconut trees gently swaying in the breeze.
For the grass and ground beneath my feet.
The cold dissipated by heat.
For thunder and lightning and rain
They water the meadows and plains.

The classical music that soothes my soul
Melodic beats and harmonies that make me whole.
Every time I listen, my spirit soars to heaven!
Indescribable bliss, so profound!

Amidst the troubled world we live in
Humanity and compassion still reign supreme
Thank you, Lord, for the good in man.

For him who is now in my life, my partner
Who makes me smile with his crazy humour
Loud and passionate that he is, me hardly a talker
Ahh, but he and I are so good for each other.

Each time I lay my eyes on my Sophia and Rachel
Love intense from my heart overflows.
Radiant innocent faces, beautiful smiles a treasure.
Their coming to this world has given me so much pleasure.

From the depths of my heart, thank you for my three daughters
Reena, Jen and Khrista, … the most treasured gifts of all!
From the moment I kissed their cheeks, smelled their breaths
And held their tiny hands in mine
I knew my love for them will withstand the test of time.

Thank you for the gift of life, dear Lord.
The blessings on me and mine, You’ve poured
For gift of family and small circle of friends.
Conflicts we have but we make amends.

When this gift of life on earth will inevitably end
As I draw my last breath, to leave this world
I will infuse myself with thoughts of all the love experienced
On my death bed, as I prepare for the end
Prayers of gratitude from me to You I send.
