Blackbird Sings - Poem by Lilly Emery

Blackbird Sings

I had seen a blackbird singing its morning song
I heard my name out in the wind
beating against the trees
where this little blackbird singed
My heart jumps along
My heart drinks in the song
Cool pleasure fills my mind
with love in my head
The little blackbird spreads each nerve
of his little wings
as he sings near me upon the tree
My mind started thinking about all kinds of things
Changes that needs to be made
If I don't like something then change it
just like the blackbird changed it's tune
when the wind-moved brier sweeps at my face
I look to change my attitude about life
My pulse beats very fast with joy
like the little blackbird when he sings about it's day
The mountain ash tree is were the blackbird sings
rustling a few frozen leaves
