Black On Black

Black coffee poured into black mug
Looks rich beyond reality.
I inhale
With unabashed addictedness.
I close my eyes in expectancy.
To sniff almost seems enough,
Except my tongue waits
To drown itself
Again and again
In the black bath
Of ecstasy.

Coffee lov'in, as usual :) I've been drinking decaf for the last 2 months, after 30 years of drinking regular. I'm doing fine, and am adjusted to it.

While sipping a cup of tea, I have just read your 'Black On Black' and liked this wonderful poem.
    'Except my tongue waits
    To drown itself
    Again and again
    In the black bath
Of ecstasy.' -Very few people can describe a simple sip so poetically and take it to such an ecstatic height! Absolutely beautiful! 10/10! (Report) Reply

Poem of the Day

poet Dante Gabriel Rossetti

Young Love lies sleeping
In May-time of the year,
Among the lilies,
Lapped in the tender light:
White lambs come grazing,
White doves come building there:
